Site Rules

Learn our site rules set in place to protect you, other clients, and everyone working here at DeadHappy.

The following information sets out the list of rules for the deadhappy.com website, visiting and interacting with deadhappy.com means you agree to follow these rules (yes, it’s ironic that these rules are only available on the website itself, but that’s the law for you). These rules might change from time to time.

What is the website for?

DeadHappy aims to change people’s attitudes to death by helping them to discuss, think about, and plan for death. The website is how we do this. We provide articles, discussion forums, products and services which we hope all help people to feel better about the human inevitability of death.

What is the website not for?

We don’t provide advice and nothing on the site should be taken as any kind of recommendation. Any information or services we offer are intended as guidance and inspiration only, We also can’t guarantee the complete accuracy of any of the content on our site. In short…. it is up to you to make your own decisions.

Who can use the website?

Our website and our services are designed for people aged 18 to 60, living in the UK. If you are not one of these people, you can still use the site, but some of our content may not be relevant, and some of our products and services may not be available to you.

Only real people can use the website, and only for personal reasons. You may not use our website, or anything on the site, for anything remotely commercial without us agreeing to it first.

What can I do with your content?

Anything on our site is owned by us. You can read it, link to it and comment on it, but you can’t steal it, modify it or pass it off as belonging to anyone other than us.

What are the rules on contributing to the site?

We really want people to engage with and actively contribute to the development of our site and services. If you post anything on our site you must make sure it doesn’t violate any regulations or laws and you promise not to post anything that could be upsetting to anyone else. If you are under 16, you need to make sure you have permission from your parent or guardian first.

Anything you do post belongs to you, but you allow us to use that content in any way we see fit to further our mission of changing attitudes to death. You must also allow us to remove or change anything you post for any reason.

What responsibility do you take for user generated stuff?

None. We hope that most of our user generated content is constructive and useful in some way, however… We can’t guarantee that anything posted by a user is correct or accurate. Any opinion expressed belongs solely to the author. We take no responsibility for moderation of any user generated content.

How do you make money?

Any content and tools are provided to you free of charge. When you subscribe to a DeadHappy insurance plan, we will take either a fee from the insurer for setting up and managing the plan, or retain part of your monthly fee as a commission, and occasionally both. All of this is included within your monthly fee, and there are no hidden extras.

When you order a Will, we charge a one off fee at point of purchase.

When you buy a plan from our partner LifeSearch, the insurance provider pays a commission amount which is based on a percentage of your total premium; in turn Lifesearch pays us a % of that commission.

Who does what if I sign up to a DeadHappy life insurance plan?

DeadHappy is the intermediary. DeadHappy will set up and manage your plan, take payments, issue your documents, and deal with any queries you might have.

Shepherds Friendly is the insurer. Shepherds Friendly will underwrite your insurance and administer any claims.

Who does what if I purchase a DeadHappy will?

DeadHappy will create your Will, take payments and make your documents available as digital content for download. For an additional fee we can arrange for your Will to be legally checked. If you would like to have your Will, printed, bound and posted to you, this too can be arranged for an additional fee.

  • Your Will is valid as a legal document provided it is signed correctly (see more information).

If I have a problem...

Yo, we’ll solve it. Please email us at help@deadhappy.com and we'll do our best.

If you're still not happy, you can refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. For more details you can visit their website at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk
